Lore

Not every blade in our ledger is such a visual representation of The Scars of our Past...Of OUr History.

With this falchion/scimitar, I wanted to go a bit more magical with the design. I wanted to create a sword that felt like it had been forged by twisting metal into root-like and trunk-like forms, something that looked as though it had been crafted by wood elves.

I love wood elves. My obsession with them began after reading their species entry in the The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind instruction booklet. The lore of a people so deeply connected to forests has always inspired me because I grew up in and around them.

My favorite forests have always been aspen groves. When you stand in a dense grove, you usually can't see more than 40–50 feet in front of you. That has always felt magical to me. Oak trees have that same quality. The way their leaves shift through so many colors, and the mighty, imposing forms they take, has always fascinated me.

With this sword, I wanted to draw from the colors of ancient oak and aspen forests. It was also lost within a magically irradiated region, so I wanted the blade to show signs of a magical rust and unusual discoloration.

Overall, this is one of my favorite swords in the vault. I hope you enjoy it as well.

Rootcarver

Welcome, Vault Keeper. Not every blade in our ledger is such a visual representation of the scars of our past…of our history.

Well, this blade was forged deep within the Oakenvale by the Wood Elves to combat threats from the realm scars in the early days of the god’s war. It gets its namesake from the roots that shaped its hilt. This falchion's blade could fell any realm beast provided its wielder has the will to stand their ground.

Due to its time lost in a realm scar, the radiation left its mark on this blade. One of our new recruits, Vivian, was able to liberate this blade from that realm scar.

I never did find out how she managed to survive in there…
